Damon Barber

Chief Executive Officer

Mr. Barber was appointed CEO of Sweetwater Royalties in January 2023 and brings over 30 years of experience in the metals and mining, oil & gas and renewable energy sectors. Prior to joining Sweetwater, Mr. Barber was the Senior Managing Director of Liberty Metals & Mining from 2014-2022 leading all aspects of investing and managing a portfolio of over $1 billion of global private equity investments in the mining sector. Mr. Barber was the CEO and Executive Director of Hong Kong based CST Mining Group where he led the company through a US$600mm equity raise on the HK stock exchange to acquire copper projects in Peru and Australia and led and directed their successful development. Mr. Barber has also held roles as Head of Metals & Mining - Asia for Deutsche Bank and a natural resources (oil & gas and renewables) investment banker at Credit Suisse. Mr. Barber holds a B.S in Mining Engineering from the University of Kentucky and an M.B.A. in Finance, with Distinction, from the Wharton School of Business.

James Perry

President

Mr. Perry was appointed Vice President – Business Development and Strategy of Sweetwater Royalties in March 2021. He was promoted to President in January 2023 and has been instrumental in building out Sweetwater’s business, including its renewable energy platform across Wyoming.  He brings over 15 years of international experience across exploration, mining, business development, M&A and corporate law. Prior to joining Sweetwater he served from 2012 - 2021 in senior business development and legal roles at Newcrest Mining, one of the world’s largest gold mining companies, including leading Newcrest’s entry into new jurisdictions in the Americas such as Ecuador and Chile. He has extensive international experience managing and negotiating mining transactions in the Americas, Africa and Southeast Asia. Mr. Perry holds a Bachelor of Laws from Bond University and a Master’s in International Relations and History from the London School of Economics.

 

 
 

John Jordan

Vice President, Land

Mr. Jordan was appointed Vice President, Land in November 2023.  He has over 40 years of experience in the oil and gas, renewables and mineral industries working various basins in multiple states.  Prior to joining Sweetwater, he held the position of Land Manager for Anadarko Petroleum’s Land Grant assets across parts of Colorado, Wyoming and Utah.  Mr. Jordan has extensive experience negotiating all forms of mineral and surface agreements, has represented Land on several large acquisition and divestiture projects, and worked closely with various State and Federal agencies. Mr. Jordan holds a B.S. in Business Administration, – majoring in  Minerals Land Management, from the University of Colorado, and is a Certified Professional Landman (CPL) through the American Association of Professional Landmen.
